New TV Guide is a bust

Status: Acknowledged

Sirs,  I came home from work and had to wait to find out you upgraded the TV Guide (if you want to call it an upgrade).  I personally think it is two step backward and closely resembles the Comcast TV Guide of a few years ago.   Not only is the TV Guide poor programming choice but it also does not hold to the "Favorites" when the box is turned off.  In these days of resources conservation, I think that leaving the box turned on is a waste of resources and not very green thinking.  I wonder who the "airhead" was that OK'ed this (so called) upgrade.  I feel with this new TV Guide you've really screwed up.

I agree with a lot of the others that are having problems seeing the screen.  Dark on darker is hard for us old folks to see no matter how close or far away you are and if you adjust the brightness on the tv screen to the point you can begin to read it the tv is so bright your eyes hurt.  Simplest solution is to add the feature (which believe me I looked for) to adjust the brightness or color scheme.  If other companies can give that option so can this one.

What did you people do with the names for a movie?

In the past, you could view everybody in the cast. Now you get only 2 or 3 full names & then...

I don't understand how you only put the first few letters of a persons name & then...three dots & you can't read the rest of the cast.

What happened when you go to the full desciption, everything came to an end. Now you get cut off!

if the guide does not change, I will cancel and go back to comcast as soon as I can. I hate it..can't see it clearly ever!

The tiny text size is ridiculous.  What's more important, being able to read it, or seeing 6 other channels programs at the same time?  Not everyone has a 999 inch TV.  Make the text bigger and cut down to fewer channels at once showing up in the viewing window.

Joe_Ambeault how is it that so many people say the font is smaller?  There must be something about how it's showing up on their screen that makes it smaller.  I recently received a 7100 HD box to replace a defective 6200 HD box and now my channel guide is displaying a very small font, much smaller than it used to on my old box.  Why?

Here's another suggestion.  Maybe someone has mentioned it but I haven't read every one of the THIRTY FIVE PAGES of comments on how small the channel guide font appears.  (Can this many people be imagining this?)  That is,  why is it that EVERY TIME I open the channel guide, I have to select the OPTION MODE to view SUBSCRIBED CHANNELS only.  I realize Verizon wants to sell me new channels so they want me to see program listings for shows I currently can't view, but since it's an option, LET ME CHOOSE THE DEFAULT MODE VIEW.  Don't make me have to select this option EVERY TIME I VIEW THE CHANNEL GUIDE.   Yes, I am yelling.

dpere, have you used the FAVORITES options/button. What you describe is exactly what it is for.

Verizon are you listening ?

this FIOS TV interface is very very clunky to navigate through -

I will add to that the remote is out of control too with what, 50 buttons ?

Looks like there are a lot of threads about TV Guide - for me, the deal-breaker is that I can't read it unless I am standing in front of the TV. The font is too small and contrast too low. Seriously, for me, if I can't read the guide, I don't want the TV service and will terminate it as soon as my contract is up. What's the point of good tv programming if it's so difficult to access it?

(maybe Verizon just wants us to get more exercise, getting up everytime you want to look for a TV program)

give ability for the user to change the font size and make this per box. some tv's are smaller and it is difficult to see the writting on the guide,  also consider letting the user change the color scheme,  I have no clue who picks and forces a mass change but for those of us whom are partially or fully color blind this is impossible to read on the new format!
