Motorola 7232: Simultaneous Component and Svideo Output?

My 7232 feeds an HD TV via component and separate audio cables.  It also passes audio/video via coax through to a separate SD ChannelPlus distro panel that feeds a number of old analog TV sets.  Further, it feeds a DVD/VHS combo recorder using composite cables.  Did I also mention that it sends 5.1 audio to an audio receiver, or that the eSata drive recently attached to the 7232 is working per design?  You would think that this list of chores would be enough, but why not go for more?

Specifically, I have tried twice to replace the composite feed to the DVD/VHS recorder with svideo and separate audio, but have not been successful.  The DVD box gets audio, but not the svideo.  When I return to composite feed, the DVD box performs correctly.  It is indeed possible that I have the setting on the DVD box incorrect (regarding input selection), but is there a possibility that the 7232 cannot or will not output simultaneous component and svideo to other components?

Your comment on the 7232 providing simultaneous component and svideo output led me to concentrate on the DVD/VHS box and connecting cables.  Eventually I found the config choices on the DVD/VHS, but in fact the culprit turned out to be a (brand new) svideo cable that was faulty.  A trip to Radio Shack solved the issue (@ $21 for the cable - ouch).  Thanks for the response.

I can tell you that it works on the 7232 (which I have) . My TV is connected via component cables, and my S-VHS VCR is on the S-Video output.. I did have to get 'Y' cables to connect the audio however, since there is only 1 set of audio outputs.

My guess is you have either a wiring issue,  an issue with the S-Video port on either end, or a device configuration problem. On many devices (like my VCR), the default for AV input is composite Video, it has to be commanded to the S-VHS input (which is a pain because it has to be done any time the VCR loses power).

Thing to try is connecting the S-Video from the 7232 directly to the TV set (if it has component input, it probably also has an S-Video input), and make sure the 7232 S-Video port is actually working.
