1 question about rev I and 1 bout rev e actiontec.

So I don't need the rev e router any more since I have the rev I right, so can I sell the rev e actiontec router/modem whatever you guys called it since I don't need it anymore I think. I had the rev I for since 1/1/2013 and verizon never asked for it back so I think can I sell it for some cash?

Now my 2nd question for the rev I is why can't I charge my IPhone the usb slot like I could on the rev e? Is charging not supported anymore or did I get a bad one and need to exchange?

You probably can sell it if vz didn't ask for it back, or you can use it for this.

there are some devices that flat out work better hardwired than wireless and this would be a great option if you have that scenario

I don't need to use the rev e I got a NETGEAR 300 Mbps Wireless N and its doing great wireless speed for me than the actiontec rev i or rev e ever did for me in wireless so I am just asking if I can sell the rev e since its useless and sitting in my closet since the day I got the rev I.

Can you please answer my other question why the port doesn't work for charging, even my HDTV can charge my Iphone and the rev e could also.

Well, my only question on the REV I is how did you get it.

If you bought it from the FiOS Store or ebay or amazon or something, or paid for it in general, then Verizon is probably still expecting the REV E back.

They would consider that a seperate purchase above and beyond what you are doing with them.

IF verizon sent that REV I as a replacement for the REV E, AND sent you paperwork but none of it says return the REV E, then you should be fine.

It's all in the paperwork that they send along with the router.

And yes the REV I usb should work for at least charging,   so I would recommend plugging something else in there just to make sure it charges, but if absolutely nothing will charge in there, and you really want that feature, then you can return it.  I would just chalk it up to a loss and plug it in elsewhere personally like my TV or something.

According to the User manual the USB ports on the Rev I  "are currently inoperational; they will be activated in
a future firmware update."

Yes I bought the verizon rev I thinking it would boost my wireless speed but did not and I can not return it because all purchases are final once done over online. Also my tv is a little far from my computer and I don't like moving the cable around alot. and if I put it in my desktop usb port the desktop tower is a little down and I am getting a replacement laptop so I have no where good to plug it in except the wall outlet with the ac adapter I bought for right now until I get my laptop soon enough but I wish I could use the rev I to charge my iphone 😞

Don't hold your breath.  That statement has been there forever.

The iphone won't change because it requires more current than the USB port provides.

This is why I am hating on fios because they never say the truth when you ask or when you look at it. The verizon tech guy said I could return it if I bought online and the guy in the store said I can't because they don't work with teleproducts or something. Why did they make it work on rev E not rev I :(. So can I sell the rev E that was provided when I activated service but don't need anymore since I got rev I?

No idea on the future updates. (I'm on 40.20.1  also.)   Did some more reading and found the following further into the user guide.  Anti-Phish is probably correct.

From User Guide:
"The USB ports provide up to 500 mA at 5VDC for attached devices (to charge a cell phone, for example). In the future, with a firmware release upgrade, the USB host functionality will be available for devices such as external storage and cameras."
