Actiontec MI424WR wireless and ethernet problem

I have two mac computers, one on the wireless and one on the ethernet. Until recently both networks appeared as the same broadcast network with respect to printer sharing, file sharing and others. Now they behave as seperate networks. Moreover port forwarding between the two does not work. The action tec has the latest version from verizon.

I discovered the cause of the problem. Almost since FIOS was installed I had one Mac system on the ethernet LAN and one

on the Actiontek wireless.  The communicated as if they were on the same broadcast network.  About two weeks ago shared printing stopped working.  I look at the configuration of the actiontek:

1. ethernet lan was on 192.168.1.0

2. wireless was on 192.168.3.0

3. firmware version 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.11.6

4 Actiontek hardware MI424-WR, version A

I did a hardware reset and then found that the ethernet, wireless and cable were then bridged. Moreover, as you may

guess the problem was solved. Apparantly either VZ reconfigured the router to have the three networks assigned different

addresses or that the new firmware required a factory reset and reconfiguration.

Charles,

No I am only connection to my actiontec, I have WPA security and am using my SSID, thus connection to my actiontek.

The problem appears to be that the actiontek treats the wireless network and the ethernet lan as two seperate networks.

I soon will be switching to an airport express to replace the lan and wireless part of the actiontek, so my question, for me

is not important. However others which have local systems, some on the wireless and some on the ethernet lan will

find that the actiontek blocks some communication between them.
