If only using FiOS service for internet, you have two choices I believe.  One is to use their Gateway and go straight Coax to the router.  The other is to call Verizon and have them enable the Ethernet port on the ONT box for WAN,  they connect any router via ethernet to that port.  When adding FiOS TV to the mix with a 3rd party router, you connect Ethernet from the ONT box to the router, and then you connect a Moca adapter to the coax near to your router, and connect ethernet from the Moca adapter to a LAN port on your router.  This injects network (and internet access) to all FiOS boxes in the home. If Verizon enabled the LAN ports on the FiOS TV boxes, no Moca adapter would be needed, but that is not currently the case.
