Arbitary Charge from CMR for FIOS line fix for $369.27

So, we had a landscaper grade our yard and put down grass seed, this caused a cut to the FIOS cable.  Apparently they put these cables 2-4 inches below the soil and fail to use a protective wrap.  We called customer service and they ran a temporary line.  Later they came out and buried a new line.  Then we get a bill for $369.27.  At no point were we told of any potential charges for the repair.  We have had FIOS service since 2012 and also have Verizon Wireless service.  We trying talking to {edited for privacy} at Claims Management Resources, but were told Verizon has cart blanche to charge for any repair regardless of the carelessness of Verizon's installation.  We would like to appeal these charges.

Thanks

The problem with these types of issues is you or the landscaper must do a buried cable search request before digging. If this was done prior to the landscaping it would have been understood where to dig or not dig. Your landscaping company never checked as required so I would send the invoice to them since they are the ones who were negligent.

verizon did not cut your line.

Hi AnnaB,

Claims Management Resources (CMR) is a Verizon authorized vendor that provides invoicing services to recover Verizon’s cost to repair damage done to the Company’s facilities. This includes but is not limited to:
• Buried and Aerial lines
• Poles
• Conduit and vehicles
CMR can handle disputes of claims directly, and works with the local field office that performed the repair. If you wish to dispute a CMR claim, you may contact them by phone at 1-800-321-4158 or by email at bswcomplaint@cmrclaims.com.  We would advise you to contact them again and ask that your dispute be escalated, if necessary.
