Bandwidth Tier - 'Free Upgrades'?

My current speed is 5/2 Mbits/s.  Is this wiki entry true?  Can I call to get a free upgrade to 10/2?

Being that it is wiki, and not a official Verizon site, I don't know about it being free. They are still a profit company. The only way it would be free is if the 10/5 is the same cost that the 5/2 was. So its not really a free upgrade its just billed at the same rate. Have you tried to contact fios customer service. They will be able to get you the details.

I had originally seen this on broadbandreports.com.  I use the wiki on more of a stable reference to the claim.

I was wondering if any forum members knew if you had to 'ask the right questions' to get this upgrade.  And if it was true.   I know that sometimes customer reps are instructed to only reply to a very specific phrasing of a question.

Thanks!

Yes there is truth to it. You need to call them. Tell them that you are still on the old speed that is no longer offered and would like them to upgrade your speed to the current offering which is at the same price as what you are currently paying, I have even seen times were you can end up paying less because they are selling the new package speed cheaper than what you are paying for the old package. It also does not hurt to ask them to look over your entire package as you could get more savings.

I say this from experience of myself as well as several others that I know.

yep 5/2 gets 10/2 but 15/2 got 20/5

and DCGTLS is 100% accurate
