Big speed difference between the Router and the Desktop

So, today I got my FiOS Gigabit Internet connection.  First thing I did was to run some speed tests. When I chose the "Router Speed Test" option, I hit over 900 Mbps for both upload and download. But when I chose the equipment speed test option which, I believe, is the speed I am getting at the computer, I got speeds of ~600 Mbps (download) and ~900 Mbps (upload). Why is this, and how can I fix this? If you have any thoughts, please let me know. Thank you.

You did not say how you took the tests. Was it direct connect to the router and then testing at Verizon speedtest site? Or wifi?

the speedtest from Verizon is a closed network test and it will not show obstructions or slow downs. If you run the device speedtest, again how was it done? Direct or wifi?

the speed of the device is what the device can handle. It will be slower.

for a real hoot try the test at http://www.speedtest.net by Ookla.

you will be surprised.

Oops. Sorry. That was an embarasssing oversight.

Yes, I am speed-testing through hard-wired connections, and using FiOS official speed testing tools. This page:

https://www.verizon.com/SpeedTest/instantinternet.aspx

I ran the speedtest you linked to. I got 583 down and 763 up. That just seems a rather poor showing for a "gigabit" line.

Like I stated in my first reply to you "Verizon's speed test is a closed network test" it is not like real test sites like Ookla which have all the stop gaps and bottlenecks etc. with Ookla you should try other test sites to see if their are less travelled sites.

on a another note Verizon only accepts their own test site results no one else's.

although you have Gigabyte service I don't think anyone is hitting that 1024 limit.
