HI!
Got Fios last Tuesday. Heard good things, very excited.
HOWEVER, I have had alot of issues with my internet. I had technicians come out twice (not including installation) to fix my internet. I now have my desktop hardwired into the modem itself. I have the Actiontec MI424-WR.
My problem comes with my laptop. I use my laptop in the living room, approx 30 feet away from the wireless router/modem thingie. (Sorry, I don't speak computer well.) I ALSO have a panasonic blue ray in my living room. When my blueray device is on, I can NOT get wireless internet. As soon as I turn off my blue ray I get it perfectly. I have no idea why this is happening. I have no idea why I can pick up 6 of my neighbors routers, but not my own 30 feet away. Is this modem/router on a strange frequency?
I try to call Verizon to get them to fix it, but seriously, I am SOOOOO tired of trying to fix this over the phone.
DO you think I could get a non wireless computer thing from them, and hook up my old wireless router to it? Do they sell them without the wireless router inside? Sigh. I hope someone understands this, because I am just so seriously tired of dealing with this. I have been on the phone with Verizon everynight.

My blueray is connected by an optical fiber? for sound to the verizon box. nothing else.
I do have the package deal for verizon. I use their Tv, internet and phone. I have DVR, and I also have that thing where i can send recordings to my bedroom. My TVs and phone work perfect.
Before I got their internet I had COX high speed internet and used a Netgear "rangemax wireless router". I never had any problems with that and could even walk outside with my laptop.
I tried connecting my netgear to their (Fios) modem, and my computer picks it up 4 bars, but will not connect to the internet. But atleast it is picking it up!
Also, Verizon switched out this modem 3 times already.

Your BluRay DVD Player should NOT be connected to the Verizon STB for anything. The Optical Cable would go from the DVD Player to your Surround Reveiver. The BluRay may have a Wireless Card and/or a Hard Wired Network connection for downloading additional content and Firmware Updates.
The simplest way (But Not Only Way) to use your Netgear would be to hook up Lan Port 1 from the Actiontec to Lan Port 1 of the Netgear. You would also want to change the TCP/IP Address on the Netgear to not conflict with the Actiontec and turn off the DHCP Server on the Netgear. You might also want to turn off he wireless on the Actiontec.
There are many different ways to use 2 routers, here is a FAQ that explains some of them:

I think it may be connected because our surround sound goes through the blueray. IS there anyway to bypass that?

If you are really losing wireless when the bluray player is on, it has to be connected either by ethernet wire or wifi, in addition one or the other may be bad or something cause this issue is very bizzar.
Could you post the Make and Model of the Bluray player?
Also, if you could private message me your billing telephone number and name I could look into your issue further.

Panasonic Blu ray SA-BT100 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0015YX700/?tag=googhydr-20&hvadid=3302470375&ref=pd_sl_5usybso28_b
I don't really understand the ethernet or wifi thing you are talking about. However, I do know that after several experiments, If i want to get wireless internet I have to turn off my blu ray. As SOON as I power it on, I lose wireless.
Also, this blueray has 2 wireless speakers. I tried turning them off as well. When they are off, and the blu ray is on, I still have no internet.
I will personally message you, but I plan on calling tomorrow after work and going back to COX if it is not resolved by then. Whats wireless internet if you can't use it while you watch TV?

I had a similar issue before and it turned out that the router was using a wireless channel that was also used by other devices as well as neighbor's equipment. If your Blueray's Wifi broadcasts on the same channel, it may override your laptop. You can change the channel in the actiontec router's configuration. I have had this router for two years, so since yours is newer it is probably different, but here is what I do on mine: I can log on with user "admin". The password I have been told is "password" by default, but they change it to "password1" (true in my case) or just "1" . Also I always have to type the password slow (it shows several asterisks for each key press, but it works). If you are able to log on to the router, click on "Wireless Settings" and then "Basic Security Settings". There you can pick a channel between 1 and 11. Then just hit apply at the bottom. Hope this helps, it helped me a lot with similar issues.
PS. Don't give up on FIOS yet, its a great service. I have tried all types of internet services over the years, and FIOS has so far been the most reliable, for internet as well as TV. Only the customer service has sucked so far in the rare instances that I needed it.

Thanks for the link to your system.
You have a Combination BluRay and Surround System that includes WIRELESS Rear Speakers:
Rear wireless ready: Yes, 5.1ch wireless system included, 7.1ch wireless option with purchase of SH-FX67 + SB-HS100A
This could account for why the BluRay is generating interference with your wireless network signal.
You can go thru the process of changing the wireless channels and other changes to the Verizon Actiontec Router or hook up your old router which was working before you switched to FIOS.
FIOS has a Superior Product over any cable system and I would hate to see you leave over something that was out of their control.
By the way, looking at the picture of the rear connections for your Panasonic you would want to have an Optical Toslink cable go from the back of the Verizon HD Set Top Box (Optical Out) to the Optical In jack on the back of the Panasonic. This connection will provide you with Dolby Digital sound (If Broadcast by Channel) while you are watching TV. You may need to switch inputs on the Panasonic Remote to get this to work. You may also have an Optical Out jack on the TV that could be connect as well if you are using an HDMI Cable.
Your Verizon STB would be connected to the TV by either HDMI, Component, Composet, or Coax (Highest Quality to Lowest Quality). The HDMI would also provide sound to your TV so that it's internal speakers would work if desired.
