OK I followed your advice and someone is coming down here today but they better not charge me, I never had this problem with comcast, I could always use any router I wanted with comcast.

Oh tech support can do that without a trip to your home. If you call them and they run the cable and roll a truck, I would expect you would get charged. I hope you do ok in that respect.

I didn't get charged, the ONT box is inside the appartment. Now I can use any router but my problem is still that I can't make wake on lan to work. I will buy this linksys router http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124190 and install dd-wrt on it because dd-wrt supports wake on lan.

Oh so it was not just a Verizon issue. I hope you get it resolved with the new router. I would have hated to see you go back to Comcast. I think that would have been a bad move. I have not had them since they bought Montgomery County Cable. Been a long time.Smiley Wink

Well, one of the solitions is to have  real small machine like old  laptop (even diskless) running CLI only from live CD. Add any WOL software there and enable SSH (v2) on this machine, open port 22 and map it to the machine. You will have a full control over your network and can send WOL packet to any computer on your home network. Or you may want to read the following article -- http://www.404techsupport.com/2009/03/wake-on-lan-home/ -- at the end author mentioned Linksys router and open source updates (firmware).
