Yes my tracert is remakably different.

Firstly my url resolves to a totally different ip address, which hoever shows the correct url whereas yours and his appear as a different url

And then my tracert appears to go directly from NY to the ip address that ostensibly in London, however as whois will tell you it's actually a server in San Francisco.

I would suspect that they are in the process of distributing access and that DNS is a little messed up in some areas of the country.  Also possibly something to do with my hitting OpenDNS which doesn't appear on the other traces.

Hi,

Just checking to see if anyone else is having this problem.

I can't connect to a specific website if I go thru my home FIOS network/router.  On the other hand, I connect straight away to the website if I use the 3G connection on my phone or if I connect thru a VPN - which means its definitely FIOS and not my equipment.  Tried to see if resetting the router would help, but still couldn't access the website.

Think I'd suggest doing what this link tells you to do to change your dns server on your machine

Yep....the vagaries of Internet routing at work.

Your suggestion for the OP to try an open proxy is a good one.  Other than that, all us end users can do is keep our fingers crossed that a routing problem gets fixed sooner rather than later.

Thank you so much, folks. It's good to know that you're also seeing some routing anomalies. A Verizon tech stopped by this morning but couldn't diagnose the issue, so he's forwarded it to another team to look into it further. In the meantime, I'm going to try OpenDNS (thanks for the suggestion). I'll post the results shortly.

You can use any DNS settings in the Router or change to any DNS server IP's and that can help with routing. Changed mine to Google's DNS and have not had any problems, but that was months ago. Try that and see if you can get routed other ways to reach that site.

Thank you for your post.  I am having the EXACT same problem, though it is with the Univeristy of London (lon.ac.uk).

Sorry, I hit 'Post' too soon. I'm still not able to get to the CeFiMS website. I'll try and connect to the lon.ac.uk site and see what happens. I'm wondering if they've blocked this block of FIOS addresses.

Couldn't get to the Univ of London site via FIOS. I'm going to send them an email. They may have blocked this group of Verizon IPs. I'll let you know ASAP.
