In the router you will need to forward for the Xbox, so that it can have what Playstation calls NAT type 2.

The serial number worked. I had tried everything until I read this, and I too did NOT want to reset because so many family members have already typed in the password for the wireless in our house for so many different devices, so I finally used "admin", and even though every key I hit typed 2-4 numbers/letters), just ignored the screen and typed in the serial number (which is tiny on the side of the fios router under the bar code and after the letters SN:) and it worked! Yay!
