Hello,
For the last week or two I have been having connection problems with some sites. Yahoo will not load sometimes, some sites will show the front page but not let me log in (eg Sprint.com, yahoo), and some parts of some sites do not work (UPS websites will load, but time out if try to use the tracking portion of the site).
In all cases where this happens, I get timeout or connection reset error. However, the throughput is still blazing fast FIOS speed otherwise.
Additionally, (and much much more importantly to me) VPN connections fail. They will connect for a few seconds, then disconnect.
Tech support is sending me a new modem, but I seriously doubt it will fix the problem.
I see others have this problem in the past but report that it is fixed now.
Is anyone else CURRENTLY dealing with this issue? Any ideas?
Edit: College Park, MD here

I'm having the same issue in Portland, OR as well. Can't get CNN, Photobucket and a host of other sites to come up. Also, Outlook is having all kinds of issues.
I have a modem set to be delivered today. I'll see if that makes the difference.

I am having issues today from VHO3.
I can not connect to cnn.com, engagdethd.com, hockeybuzz.com, et. al. My wife can not log into AOL.
3 of the 4 I listed are Time Warner sites.
Is there a backbone outage somewhere, or is it something within Time Warner?

I am in Hillsboro and having the same issue. I have tried running a traceroute to the sites that won't work and they all end up crashing out a few hops in at seattle.savvis.net.
Has anyone contacted verizon about this? I am disappointed that they don't appear to have live chat anymore?

It's getting worse and fast. I'm in Houston and 50% of what I'm trying to connect to fails. Running a trace, they all stop at so-6-0-1-0.DFW01-BB-RTR1.verizon-gni.net.
Only the biggest sites like google are working for me today. Been waiting for tech support for close to an hour so far to actually get to my call, so I guess I'm not alone. A network status page sure would be helpful.

I lose my traceroute at alter.net on sites I cannot connect to, which is a verizon domain, so it is a network problem within the Verizon network, as comfirmed by a tech. He says it is a known issue and should be fixed by 11am tomorrow (Thurs July 9).
This issue has nothing to do with the router.

I am also unable to hit ebay from my personal computer. However, I was able to establish a VPN Tunnel to my company (Dallas, TX) and connect to ebay, cnn, engadget, etc..
