I am a Verizon Fios internet only customer who is currently renting a verizon router connected via coax cable. I am planning to ditch their router and use google wifi. I understand that I need to call verizon and ask them to enable my ethernet port on the ONT and I also need to do the DHCP Lease IP Release gyration. My question is, what am I supposed to do first?
I thank all of your wonderful people in advance for your help,
Steve

First you call up and have them switch you over to ethernet only.
then go to the Verizon router and do a dhcp release and immediately unplug the Verizon router.
then make sure your new router is powered up, then take the ethernet cable from the ont to your WAN port on your google router. It will obtain a dhcp address automatically.
if you have tv you will also need a MOCA adapter and splitter to keep TV guide and video on demand. If internet only you don’t need any more.
