Default Actiontec Settings

After my FiOS installer left, I tried to access the router's settings page with a few different logins. After none of the ones I found online worked, I did a hard reset of the device. I'm wondering if there are any VZ recommended settings (ie: QoS settings for my STB) that I should be sure to re-enter now that it has been hard reset. Can anyone give guidance on this? Thanks!

I do not recall my installer making any changes to the Router out of the box, except top change the password which is required.

I have since had to do a hard reset and everything works just fine with no changes.

All of the settings for the STBs should be fine.  I did change mine to give them static TPC/IP Addresses so that I would not have  them changing on me and temporarily loosing remote DVR Capabilities.

Brian, how do you get the STB's to have a static address?  On ocassion I cannot access the remote DVR and after I reboot the actiontec it seems to work but that is a useless solution when you want to record something and are not home.

Thanks, Jim

The router is already setup to hand out IPs to the STBs in a certain range. Usually the range is 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.150 I believe.

I ran into something similar because the DVR would change it's TCP/IP Address and not udate the forwarding rule in my Router via UPNP.  I was able to make my STB use a Static Address with a DHCP Reservation and then enabled and re-enabled the remote dvr feature on the STB to update the Forwarding Rule and it has been ok ever since.

To make the DHCP Reservation on the Actiontec:

  • Select Advanced
  • Select IPAddress Distribution
  • Select ConnectionList
  • Select the STB from the List and Edit
  • Check off the Static Lease Box
