I am also in MD with exactly the same problem and it started on the same day.
Windows computers are slow on secure web sites, but the do work.
My linux PCs and my Samsung Blu-ray player are flat out unable to connect.

Alright, so it continues to grow. Good thing we have a forum post to congregate around so that we can share the solution or help bring it to verizon's attention

I wonder if this can be narrowed down to a specific POP?
I live in Columbia, on Summer Cloud Way.

Spoke to a guy at work who lives in Columbia - he's not noticed any issues with his Macs (computers, not MAC addresses)
I like in Elkridge, but like across the street from Columbia (basically, behind the Costco on 175), so I might be in that same POP. What about the other dudes from Maryland?

I am in Jessup just across from the post office on 175...I am home from work..i still have the same 71.x.x.x IP as I had this morning and everything is still working...I will try again around 6 tonight for max load test (should be plenty of traffic tonight) but I think this has it.
I know..this morning I was like...that really can't be it...cannot?....even last night I almost didn't try it but I was like what do I have to lose?
I am still in disbelief thus why I threw it up here to see what your experiences are/were today...standing by to see how this plays out.

I'll def give it a shot tonight - I usually turn off my computers at night so I have nothing to lose. We'll see. Expect my post tomorrow morning - either jubilant or really **bleep** off.

I came home to work on this and now everything works. I have the same IP address today with 173 as the first octet. What really seems strange is that windows still worked. OSX and Linux share common roots and I know my blu-ray player is linux and they did not work.

So everything got fixed automatically when you got home? Perhaps they've actually been working on it? I hope it's working when I get home. The wife would be very pleased

Yep -- it all works... I did not change a thing...
