Does DVR Manager Work for You?

Has anyone been able to get "DVR Manager" (go to Verizon's web site>My Verizon>Manage My TV, scroll down to "DVR Manager", click "Manage") to work?  I always get the error"  "We are having trouble communicating to your Set Top Box.".

I just had FIOS installed (TV, internet, phone) last week.  Everything is working great.  Except this.  I've researched/tried lots of things unsuccessfully.  "Home Agent" doesn't know DVR Manager exists.  Neither does the online Automated Agent.  I tried Verizon's online chat help, but their suggestions didn't help either.  I'm wondering if it works for anyone, or is it some discontinued-but-still-advertised feature.

If DVR Manager works for you, please tell me what you did to get it to work.

I just tested the DVR manager and it works fine.  Didn't have to do anything to get it to work.

If you haven't already, try the "Auto-fix MRDVR Issues" and "Fix FIOS TV Issues" in the Menu>>Customer support section.  If those don't help you may have to talk to a live customer support rep.

Yes, has worked for years. And while I don't use it very much, I just checked, still works fine.

Have you gone into the Menu on the DVR and set up the FiOS TV Remote DVR dialog? If not, you need to do so. You will need to set up a Parental Control PIN to access the dialog if you have not done so.

Menu ==> Settings ==> FiOS TV Remote DVR ==> Web Access ==> and enable it (at least that is what I remember you had to do at that point)

Hope this helps.

The tech who installed  my service must have done that for me.  When he left everything was enabled and working.

Thanks for confirming it works.

I tried the fixes you suggest, and they didn't work.  I think the MRDVR one is only for multi-room DVRs, and I don't have one of those.  I just have one HD DVR and an SD set-top box.  I tried both fixes anyway, but no luck.

I've had two Verizon techs try to help so far (via chat), but no luck there either.

Thanks for confirming that DVR Manager works, and for your suggestions.

I saw the DVR's setting  for Web Access (as you describe), and thought that might have something to do with activating DVR Manager service.  But then I got confused.  When I access Web Access (as you describe), my DVR responds with:  "Status:  Not Activated, go to www.verizon.com/fiostvcentral".  It continues telling me to long on with my Verizon ID, and gives me a confirmation code (10 digits).

I guess "/fiostvcentral" does not exist any more.  When I try that URL, Verizon redirects me to entertainment.verizon.com, at the "Movies & TV" tab (and I'm still logged in).  I've looked everywhere on that page and followed every link, but cannot find anything that accepts a 10-digit confirmation code or even mentions anything called "Web Access".  Many of those links lead back to the My Verizon>Manage My TV page (where the DVR Manager is at).  I've looked through every link on that page too, and cannot find anything to activate "Web Access" or activate "DVR Manager," or accept a 10-digit confirmation code.

If anyone has a URL to a Verizon page that will activate "Web Access" when provided a 10-digit confirmation code, please let me know.

Um, my first reply above is to walt178, and the second one is to justin.  Guess this board does not link replies to their sources.  Sorry guys.  Will include text in the future.

It confused me, but I think when you are in the "Menu ==> Settings ==> FiOS TV Remote DVR ==> Web Access" section, pressing OK toggles the state from disabled to enabled. It might also help to enter a PIN on the Parental Control page. Some things seem to work without entering a PIN, but some things seem to work better by having entered a PIN (by deafult it seems everything is enabled).
