Thanks to all the users who have spent so much time on this issue. NO THANKS to Verizon. I had the software installed on my laptop for a long time, but I couldn't get it to update. So I thought I'd just uninstall it and download the newest version. After signing in to my Verizon web account and clicking and searching the website for who-knows-how-long, I finally found this forum through a Bing search! The link that worked for me is the one stated above:
http://my.verizon.com/central/vzc.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=vzcp_wifi_manage
On that page it showed my Wi-Fi ID with a link to "Download WiFi Connect", which worked. Of course, the sad thing is that Verizon WiFi hotspots are fading away, so the service is practically useless to me anymore. Hotels want to charge for WiFi and restaurants offer free WiFi.
I don't know who does Verizon's website, but they need to hire new people. I get so frustrated with dead links and "service unavailable" messages, in addition to poor content management like this.

Hi, rehashing this topic, hopefully Verizon can help...
I'm trying to download the wifi software for my laptop. I got the link for the verizon download manager, downloaded it, executed, now it's just stuck saying "Preparing to download your products"... Can anyone help?

You can use Boingo for free with your Verizon FIOS and HSI userid.

So would I have to be in range of a Boingo hotspot to do this?

I was finally able to get the wifi connect software downloaded and installed today after failing for the previous three days. My attempts included two sessions with chat reps who couldn't locate the file on my PC to confirm that it had been downloaded. I finally got a VZ rep on the phone whose specialty was FIOS. He watched me go through the process of locating the link on the website, downloading (again) VZDOWNLOADMANAGER.exe, and appearing to download the software. He confirmed that it didn't download. He then went offline, discovered that the software had been updated, and put it into the queue for download. When he ran the download again, the file showed up! He clicked on it and it installed and connected to my home wifi source.
Success at last and thanks to an intelligent tech support rep who verified the problem and found the solution!

You need to be in range of a Boingo hotspot to use the service.
You can download the software at anytime.
Keep in mind this is supported for Windows products only.
