How long has this issue been occurring? Does this occur as the webmail is loading?

Try accessing your e-mail via Outlook or another client that supports POP3.

This is especially handy if you have a phone with a data plan and would like to receive your e-mails on the go. Or, if you have a secondary e-mail provider (such as Gmail), you can have your e-mails forwarded to one inbox (and to be honest, the Gmail interface is far better than Verizon's WebMail interface).
