I recently changed to FIOS internet and the Actiontec MI424-WR rev 1 router. I have one desktop computer that is using an ethernet port. When I initially turn on the computer, the ethernet port does not become active for anywhere between 15 seconds to 5 minutes. After it does eventually turn on everything works fine. Thoughts?
Thanks.

First I would make sure the driver for the NIC is up to date. I would recommend getting drivers from the manuf.'s web site. Also- try a differnet port on the router. Also look at event viewer for related error - custom views- adminsitrative events + various logs under "Windows Events"

Visit the Windows Device Manager, locate your network adapter and disable the power saving features of the NIC to see if this helps. New drivers as suggeted above is also another thing to try. Lastly, definitely consider checking the Event Viewer to see if any logs are being recorded about services hanging at start.
