I have been receiveing excessive spam email today that is not being filtered out by the verizon email spam filter. Has anyone else noticed this? The spam filter was previously working.

Yes, I noticed this yesterday as well. Lots of drug spam that was previously being caught in SpamDetector.

And I just checked my SpamDetector folder on Netmail and it's almost empty. Which means that it is not being trapped at all. Clearly the Cloudmark spam system (I thought it was Brightmail but got the other name when I sent email to spamdetector.notcaught@verizon.net yesterday) is broken.

Me too.  I'm receiving a TON of spam in my inbox.  Started yesterday.

I've basically had to turn off my Verizon email since yesterday when the deluge of spam started arriving.

They clearly changed something and spam is not being identified like it was before.

Hopefully they will get a handle on this quickly!

I just logged on to make sure it wasn't just me.  Verizon, please do something.

Same problem here. Noticed it maybe two days ago.

Has anyone heard from Verizon on this? The messages that are getting through are so obviously spam, it's hard to imagine how they're getting through. (FWIW, Spam Detector does appear to still be catching some garbage...)

Anyone from Verizon listening???

According to Verizon, they are aware of the issue and are trying to find a resolution. (Meant to post this yesterday, but got sidetracked.) No telling how long it will take them to fix it, but at least they don't have their fingers in their ears saying "Lalalalalalala..."

I just spent an hour on a completely useless chat with a VZ rep, who insisted on checking my account settings, despite my asking him to please check if there was a report that VZ was experiencing a problem at its server level. (He told me there were no such reports.)

Then, when he couldn't do anything about the problem, he wanted ME to call tech support on a voice line to see if THEY could help me. (I'd started on a voice line, and a recording told me to "call again at another time," so I opted for chat.

I saved the chat transcript. Anyone know of the right place to email that baby so a VZ customer service supervisor can see the waste of an hour?

The problem appears to be fixed. I haven't been getting a lot of spam for the past few hours and my SpamDetector folder has stuff in it starting from ~6am this morning.

I have also seen a lot more SPAM the last few days than I am used to. I suspect the issue is tied to an intermittent failure of one or more of Verizon SMTP and POP servers. Both problems appeared at the same time. There is another thread on this board about Verizon email being broken.

I would hesitate to use the word broken, let's just say unreliable. The POP/SMTP servers seem to go up and down like a yo-yo, and talking to Verizon Customer Service is like talking to a brick wall. The only thing they can do is play with your computer. The possibility that it is actually a Verizon problem is beyond their comprehension.

If the www.verizon.net says it is unavailable, and my email client says it is getting a status of ' service temporarily unavailable', I seriously doubt that changing anything on my computer will have any effect, since www.verizon.net is interacting directly with the pop servers without my computer being involved in the conversation.

anyway I suspect that when they get the server issues fixed, the SPAM filter will also begin working reliably again.
