I have this issue.  THe rep made a ticket for a technician to come out to the house. By the next morning an automated system from Verizon informed me that the issue was resolved. ITS NOT FIXED.  The issue is very much present and not resolved.  Around 2000 cst I experience the exact issues described in this post and its not resolved.  If you can assist me it would be much appreciated.  I attempted to chat live at 2130 cst and the connection was so poor it dropped the Internet.  My download via Ethernet with wifi disabled  is an avg or 8 mbs and the upload is avg of 58mbs.  Its not in the house.. Its not the router, i moved the router to the enet port at my ont and connected enet with the same poor download speeds...  DURING THE DAY TIME its 56 mbs down and 58 mbs up.  This has been the case since the week after Christmas 14.

Hi tx50cst,

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

I have been having this problem as well (in Dallas) but have yet to see anyone actually respond with Verizon having fixed the issue. Every night my speed drops from ~80 Mbps to ~6Mbps. I see that a moderator keeps popping in to state that a private ticket has been created but no follow-ups by those affected stating a resolution to their issue. Has anyone effected in fact gotten a resolution?

I don't really want to go through the tedious process of reinventing the wheel if it is all for naught.

Thanks

I have the same exact symptoms in the evening in Northern Virginia.  My plan is 35/35 and during the daytime and very late at night I have no issues and in fact it is often faster than my plan's speed!  It is just those hours between 7-11:30pm or so.

Last night it was slow around 7-8pm with speeds of 3-10 mpbs and only started to improve gradually from 11pm to 11:30pm.  At 11:30pm I was getting 42 mbps!

I have been a huge fan of FiOS and in the past have recommended it to almost everyone I know, but this is putting a big dent in my regard for them.

My impression was that fiber-optics have a much higher capacity than cable (Xfinity, etc.), so I am not sure why there would be a slow down like you have with traditional copper / cable outfits during "peak hours."

I rely on having a stable speed and that is why I have chosen to pay more for FiOS rather than saving money with the local cable operator for my bundle, but if I am getting the same service in the end, why should I stay?

fiber optics do tend to have better capacity but verizon has way too many customers and is still signing people on without upgrading their infastructure to support everyone, the saddest thing i've seen is someone from the dslreports forums paying for 500/500 and hes literally getting 5/500 after 7pm-12am

I've had this same problem for a while now in the Dallas area, except mine happens between around 2-3pm until 5-6pm.

The thing I've noticed is that sometimes the actual fiber connection dies (ie. the router status page will show "Connecting" to the WAN), and sometimes the WAN connection stays up but traffic is almost completely dead.  On top of that, when doing a ping from the router some sites will respond, some may have a 75% packet loss, some may have 100% loss.

I'm sick of getting the runaround when calling Verizon - I don't have time to spend hours with customer service re-diagnosing that it's NOT my computer or router.  The one time I actually scheduled someone to come out and took off of work, of course they come at a time when the problem isn't happening.

Fortunately my contract is up in a few months and there are several other good options here.

I just discovered the exact same problem after signing up for 50/50 a week ago.  Last night around 8pm I was only getting 3/50.  This morning I tested it and back to 50/50.  Today at 6pm I'm getting 18/50. So sad.  This is very obviously either Verizon throttling evening speeds or their network just isn't capable of supporting the speeds we're paying for in the evening both of which are somewhat unnacceptable if I'm going to continue to pay what I'm paying.  This is not an issue an technician is going to be able to fix since so many people are having the same issue and it's obviously not their computers or wifi networks which the technician I was on the phone with last night tried to blame it on until I hooked my laptop up directly to the router and still had the same speed of 3/50.  The technician eventually said he was going to transfer me to a network specialist but transferred me to billing instead so I'm planning to call them again tonight to see what they have to say.

Good luck. The only thing worse than their infrastructure is their customer support.
