Extremely slow usenet / newsgroup downloads

Over the last couple days, my usenet / newgroup downloads have gone down to about 0.2 KB/s.  Not sure what's going on, doesn't seem to be on my end.  I've even tried a different Usenet provider, but still get the same slow speed.  I've found that when I do a traceroute to the servers: news20.forteinc.com and news.usenetserver.com it times out.  Any ideas?

Same deal here. Just got FIOS and was excited to get the new service, but now disappointed with Usenet performance. Literally about 1kb/sec. Never had trouble with Time Warner when service was working, which was consistently fast.

Any insight on how to resolve this?
