I am trying to set-up WI-FI connection to my network on an Apple Iphone 3GS. I am having trouble with the network password not being recognized. I get the message.. "unable to Join the Netowrk". I know my network admin password, That's the one I am using.
The network is setup with WEPs security. When I uncheck WEP and reboot the notwork... no problem. IPhone connects without a password required and works fine. I don't think its a good idea to run the network without WEP.
So my question is... do I have a password issue or do I have an Iphone software WEP acceptance issue? Anyone know the real answer through their own experience with this situation?
Apple systems frequently have issues with WEP. On some systems, you have to put a $ before the 10 digit wep key before it will recognize it. To my knowledge this happens mostly on older Imac's but it may affect other devices as well.
Some Apple systems require that you enter the WEP key in all lower case letters.
Some dont work with WEP at all.
Now most Apple systems like WPA security just fine, so you may want to try putting WPA on the router instead of WEP and see if that helps.
