I am considering switching to FiOS. The system requirement listed for Macs is that the processor speed should be a minimum of 2GHz.
I currently own a Power Mac G5 that has a dual-processor architecture, 1.8GHz each. Does anyone know if this configuration is sufficient for a FiOS internet? The computer is by no means a weak one, and its speed is faster than some other computers with a single 2GHz CPU (especially for some heavy duty applications). Still, is this just a recommendation by Verizon, or will it (the FiOS system) simply refuse to work with my computer?
Thanks.
I think the system requirements are more for the Verizon software they try to get you to install than the actual service I can see no reason why an internet connection would not work on your mac simply because the processor speed.
I am 100% sure you will be fine so switch away you'll be glad you did!
BTW I also use Mac's a Mac MINI and a Macbook Pro LOVE'EM
GOOD LUCK
The FIOS installer will want to add their software to your computer. Just tell him no thanks. You don't need it.
