Filezilla FTP will not connect to server

Message 1 of 3

I have been trying to connect to a server to upload files for a website the past couple of days with no success. I have Fios 50/50 internet and the Quantum Gateway router. Any help is greatly appreciated I am completely lost. The only thing I can think of is the router is somehow blocking this.

Things I have tried.

Turned my Macbook Pro Firewall off

Port Forwarding FTP (Any->21)

Port Forwarding (50000->52000)

Router FIrewall Low

This is what I get when I run the configuration wizard on FileZilla

The filezilla setup is
Passive (allow fallback),
use servers external IP address,
get external IP address from the following URL (don't use external on local connections),
use the following port range (50000 to 52000)

Test Results
Connecting to probe.filezilla-project.org
Connection established, waiting for you welcome message.
Response: 220 FZ router and firewall are tester ready
USER FileZilla
Response: 331 Give any Password.
PASS 3.18.0
Response: 230 logged on.
Checking for correct external IP address
Retrieving external IP address from http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php
Checking for correct external IP address
IP 96.244.135.18 jg-cee-bdf-bi
Response: 200 OK
PREP 50862
Response: 200 Using port 50862, data token 284289399
PORT 96,244,135,18,198,174
Response: 500 invalid command, goodbye! We did receive this from you: NoGo 96,244,135,18,198,174
Server sent unexpected reply.
Connection closed

Why do you have the 2 entries in the firewall?

That is for inbound traffic only I.E. you would be running a filezilla server on your home network and allowing access to it from external clients.

What version filezilla client are you using?

I configure entries under site manager

General

Host is url or ip address of server

port is listening port on server

protocol FTP

encryption use explicit ftp over tls if available

User id and password

Advanced

Server type default (autdetect)

Transfer Settings

Passive

Charset

Autodetect

Works with no problems

What is the port range 50000 - 52000 about?  Seem to recall that as something in the ancient past in the stndard ftp client but nothing to do with filezilla that I can see
