I'm getting Fios internet installed at my house tomorrow morning.
I opted to use my own modem and router instead of paying monthly for a Verizon rental.
Unfortunately, the modem/router I ordered online will no be here until tomorrow evening.
Can the Verizon tech coming to my house perform his/her installation duties without me having a modem? I'm fully capable of doing self setup, but I'm told they had to send somebody.
I'm willing to go to Walmart or something and buy a modem to have during installation, just to return it if I must spend the money and time, but I'd rather not.
Can anybody answer this? Trying to explain this situation to Verizon tech support was like pulling teeth.

Verizon doesn't use modems.
If you are getting Internet only, you can use any router you want.
Tech will have to install an ONT on your house.
Unless you have one there from a previous owner.
Just ask the tech to have it provisioned as Ethernet.
Run an ehternet cable from ONT to where your rotuer is and you should be good to go.
