I'm planning to switch to Fios double play (50/50 internet)  and i have quesiton choosing the modem.   I'm planning to use my own wireless modem (have powerful AC netgear router) .  With this in mind, will i be good with Fios wireless router?

Fios quantum gateway, the only difference between this 2 is the wirless speed (dual band)    Is this is correct ?   Is there are any other benefit to with quantum gateway for my either internet or tv services?

Fios doesn't use modems just routers. (other then in some apartment buildings like in NYC) If you plan to have quantum tv service then you have to have either the rev. i or the new gateway for it. You can use your own router along with theirs though if wanted.

If you only have internet and no quantum tv service then you can just use your own router. You have to set theirs up first then set yours up then you can remove theirs.

Just double NAT your powerful AC router behind the Actiontec, then you can use all of your router's features.

Your set top boxes will connect and use the routing functions on the Actiontec.   Everything else will be on a different subnet and connected to your router.   Up to you if you leave the WiFI on the Actiontec on.   If the Actiontec is in an area where your WiFI signal is weak in your home use it, if not shut it off.   If you use it just be sure to put it on a diffrent radio channel than th 2.4 Ghz on your AC router.

If you need help setting it up and double NATing it  search this site and or DSL reports for complete instructions.

I just recieved my Quantum Router under an hour ago.

The only differences between the previous high performance router is its dual band and the anntenae are Internal.

I cant recommend it, the wifi range is FAR less than my previous router.

Its really disappointing, i waited longer than i was supposed to due to UPS screwing up and come to find out this so called uber router may actually be worse.

So trial and error will be your friend i guess..

And yeah, FIOS is accessed via a modem built into the router basically, so you only need the router that they give you, no seperate modem/router is required.

That's incorrect.  The MI424-WR and the G1100 are MOCA (ethernet over coax) capable routers.  They are not a modem/router.  Just because it connects to coax, does not make it a modem.  People forget that the original ethernet implementation ran over coax and did not use modems.
