Fios Software Start-Up Program & Services

I had Fios installed last Saturday. I let the installer install the Verizon software because I read here that it would make the installation easier and I could always uninstalled them later. Under Programs and Features I have installed the Vz In Home Agent, and the Verizon Download Manager. I'm assuming that I can uninstall these programs without affecting my connection or speed? Also Autorun, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/sysinternals, shows these service running. verizon_ihamessagecenter.exe

verizondm\bin\sprtsvc.exe

verizondm\bin\tgsrvc.exe

If I uninstalled the Vz In Home Agent, and the Verizon Download will it removed these services? Bottom line should I keep or remove these programs and what are the benefits of keeping them? or should I keep them and disabled them from starting up?

Thanks.

Remove them.  They are not needed.

Thanks for the response.

Since they are not causing any issues I might just delete them from start-up.

I'd remove then through the "Add/Remove Programs" or "Programs and Features" Control Panel applet thius way it will also remove any. NT Services installed.

there are at least two pieces to uninstall.  Iha and a messaging service.  The messaging service has been known to go crazy and eat all a cpu's cycles, and also to generate regular error messages if communication are not working at at either end or anywhere in the middle.  No the error messages are not ones that help with FIOS service, but a confusing message about a script not working.

DEFINITELY GET RID OF THEM.

It may be a good idea to have a "sacrificial" computer available when FiOS is first installed.  I'm thinking of an old laptop that no longer gets a lot of use, or something similar.  This way the install tech can check out the system, get you going initially, and apply any necessary software in a manner that does not compromise your primary devices.  If later you want to dump any of the software, you can do so at no risk.

BTW, there are reports that some of the software normally installed doesn't always uninstall completely or in a "clean" fashion.  Some users have gone so far as to do a complete check of registry entries in order to purge any traces of these applets.  In fact (and somewhat surprisingly) there are reports that Google Chrome, at last count more widely used than MS Internet Explorer is also an offender when it comes to a "clean" uninstall.  See for example:
