Fios Upload (Extreme Slow Down)

Does anyone know why my Fios is doing this?  I ran speed tests and all download and upload speeds are fine (15.23Mbps/3.98Mbps).  When I upload to gmail, facebook, youtube, etc, it starts around 200kB/s, drops down quickly, then eventually comes to a complete halt.  I'm currently using a Mac and have turned off all the firewalls.  Please help.  Thanks!

Are you currently using Wireless? Have you tried connecting the Mac directly to the router using an Ethernet cable to see if the problem disappears if you are on Wireless?

I thought it was the wireless too, but when i tried connecting using a Ethernet cable, same thing happens.

Click on one of the two links below, whichever is closest. They will start an upload speed test which attempts to upload a 29MB file. If they complete, post up the speed result you get for us to see. I'm assuming you have 15Mbps/5Mbps FiOS. This should allow us to see if perhaps the issue is with some sites or if it is an issue with the connection as a whole. On  a FiOS connection the test should take no more than 5 minutes once the data has been prepared. If it takes longer it probably is timing out.

i spoke with verizon and they said they cant indentify the problem because speed tests all seem fine.  I told them i'm not complaining about it being a little bit slow, but more so the fact that i cant upload files at all.  I can't figure it out either.  All the devices im using have this upload problem.  I've turned off firewalls, etc.  Are there certain settings i should change on the verizon modem/router?

I have the same problem in Pennsylvania.  Downloads are slow. Uploads are impossible (1 Mb file took 15 minutes). Verizon speed tests (assumed to be fake) say speed is as it should be.  I cannot run the speed tests references above from these links.  I believe it is timing out on the 29.2M download to me. Copying the link and running it from a clean explorer window gets me as far as the "be patient" screen but alway returns the webpage cannot be displayed instead of results.

Have a desktop connected by wire and laptop on wireless.  I get same results on both units.  Taking laptop to local library results in instant (comparabily) uploads so I suspect problem is not with my hardware.  I have rebooted router and all the common things I could think of.

dpchen, are you located in the Northeast service area, to add in for the above post? Perhaps there might be a common problem somewhere if an area is seeing low upload speeds.

If you haven't applied any custom settings to your FIOS router, I would press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for about 20 seconds to reset the router back to factory defaults. Should something have slowed your upload down, such as a setting in the router, that should solve it. Once the router has been reset, visit http://192.168.1.1/ and change the default password from admin as the username and password as the password, to a password that you will remember.

Mines been doing the exact same thing for the last few days.  Everything starts fine, then my connection will just drop to 0 and sort of putts around in the low kb/s range.

This is on a Westell 9100.  I've had to reset it and then disconnect/reconnect from Windows at least twice a day for the last three days.

Looks pretty sad to me.  However verizon speed test still says all is well.

I just read the thread from the people in Tampa with similar issues and the hassle they had getting Verizon to check their own network equipment instead of insisting there was nothing wrong as long as the verizon speed test worked.  Maybe it would be easier if i simply went back to Comcast.  They would love to have me and at least for a while would provide me with full speed access at less then half the price and I wouldn't even have to beg them to give me what I am paying for.
