Quality has been universally bad with all of the episodes since approx noon time today. And while Netflix may have occasional issues this one is definitely a Verizon issue. Just take a look at the half dozen threads on this forum regarding bad Netflix quality.
Agree. We already pay extra for 50 megabit down and 25 up service, primarily so we can get great streaming video support. For some things that works well -- like Amazon -- but Netflix appears to be singled out for "special treatment" by Verizon -- presumably they are holding a gun to Netflix's head so they will pay them the same bounty they have already had to pay Comcast.
This should not be necessary. But since the phone companies own our congressmen and the courts, there's no chance we'll get true Net Neutrality, and therefore we will be subjected to this kind of highway robbery.
Not a happy camper.
And by the way, Verizon should love us and treat us well as we are also full-boat digital TV and voice customers, so it's not like we're taking anything away from them by wanting to watch House of Cards or Orange is the New Black.
Sheesh.
Netflix streams Super HD at a rate of 7 Mbps.
Do the math. Verizon will not support the Netflix Open Connect solution to alleviate network congestion and has stopped upgrading (or providing Netflix fast access to) its peering exchange with Cogent Communications.
We're pretty much hosed unless Netflix (and) FiOS subscribers pay more to Verizon so they will restore the former high-speed bandwidth traffic exchange rates with other CDNs.
Well since we already pay for internet and Verizon has not responded at all nor has this elongated thread been escalated, does this mean they have not honored their end of the contract and we are free to switch to another ISP?
Is the thread not being escalated because Verizon already knows the answer? All of us cant have problems with a splitter in our homes at the same time at night.
Heaven forbid Verizon actually take the frustrations/complaints made by their subscribers seriously.
I guess it doesn't matter to Verizon when a solid citizen pay's his $204 FiOS bill early each month.
Last night NFLX was not just slow it was stopped. No streaming at all. Finally got message about my intgernet connection being too slow and try again later.
Comcast is available to me. They cut a deal with Netflix. You guys do it too and real soon.
