G3100 WIF Strength? Should I get an access point?

First I only have 100mbps and wired most devices except Phones and IOT devices.

The channels are set to automictic with 2.4 on channel 1 and 5 on channel 149. I read some reviews and thought this would have better WIFI than the G1100 and I could remove an Archer C8 V1. It seems the G3100 doesn't have as strong a signal as the C8 so it's hard for it to punch through all the competing signals. The first floor is good but reaching the back 2nd floor bedroom barely works and the C8 didn't work very well. So I'm thinking should I stick with the old C8 or get a newer router/access point?

Try hard configuring the channels to be something other one that is already used.

Maybe try between other signals
