Hi folks,

If you don't mind, may I ask how much you pay for your Verizon FIOS speed ?

Thanks,

Excuse me, but I couldn't find any other posts on this subject.

I have upgraded to 50/25, and I have run speed tests using 4 different servers, thereby averaging the results. I have yet to get above 20 Mbps Download. I have had this problem with Verizon before - I struggle for months to get the proper speed in my service. I go through several Tech calls, web-assisted computer changes, etc and rarely do they help.

I have read that a Tech said that the speed tests only check the speed of your current setup (wired, wireless, etc.) when you run the test. It is my understanding that when Verizon consults with you to upgrade, they know what setup you have and they sell the speed regardless of the setup. What should I look for in order to be sure I have tuned my computer to run the fastest?

Typically Verizon support would have you check the RWIN setting on your PC/laptop.

Go here to check:

http://www.speedguide.net/analyzer.php

Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65700 (You want to look for this line - as long as the number is in that general range you're fine; if you're on Windows 7 you can't change that setting anyway so it's kind of a moot point for them to have you check it for the most part)

You can try running the Verizon Speed Optimizer but that hasn't done much for me.

Most any setup can easily handle 50/25Mbps.  You do want to test your speeds while connected through an Ethernet cable as opposed to Wireless though to get a more accurate result.

Do you know what they've tested/replaced at your house as well?  (ie. replaced the router, ONT, etc.)
