I want to try OpenDNS

I have a Verizon MI424WR router and want to try OpenDNS since I've heard a lot about improved speed.  I cannot find the DNS settings in the advanced tab to be able to change the two addresses to those required by OpenDNS.

Can anyone help?

Also, do I need to upgrade the firmware on my router?

Thanks!

Since you are probably connected via DHCP and I am connected via PPPoE (Verizon's first installs were this way in many areas), I cannot for sure give you the right directions, but on my router:

My Network ==> Network Connections ==> WAN PPPOE (yours will probably be different) ==> Settings ==> scroll down to DNS settings

I hope this gets you in the correct general area, I think it will. What you are looking for are WAN definitions. And as far as I know there is no need to update the router, I have been using OpenDNS for quite a while, with at least two or three levels.

By the way, if you want to try the OpenDNS stuff on your PC first, you can put their DNS addresses in your PC and try it, then if you like it update the router so all PCs then use OpenDNS.
