Internet Connection Dropping In and Out for Short Periods of Time

Hello, my internet service seems to drop in and out quite frequently. This is sometimes noticable in website loading, where for a short period no website will load. But this is most noticable with video games that require constant connectivity (Counterstrike Global Offensive will jump to >400 ping at certain moments), and other programs that don't have lag compensation (VoIP programs).

I have restarted my router, reset my router, unplugged/unpowered the ONT(the box thing in the house with the battery backup right?). I have changed the channel on the router multiple times, and the firewalls are set to mininum, and the computer has been set to DMZ in the router all with no effect.

Sometimes the problem doesn't seem severe other times very much so.

Here is a picture of a speed test that shows the connection dropping significantly at certain points, but apperantly only in download.

This problem has persisted for months after a recent switching to Verizon (from a cable only competitor). Before that the cable only competitor had no such problems, and before that competitor we had Verizon which had no problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

I used to see that same type of speed test picture: some times frequently, other times rarely.  I doubt there is a universal fix that will solve that problem for everyone.   However, the solution to my problem was repositioning of the router.   It was standing up on the base; I laid it on it's side.  In the same exact spot!  Problem solved.  Wireless speeds became consistently good and the big dips in download speed disappeared.  I did not expect that to solve my problem.  I was just trying different things because the common suggestions had not worked.   Bottom line:  try everything and do not overlook the little things.   It does not take much to disrupt wireless reception.

Another suggestion is to keep any thing that operates on 2.4GHz away from the router and computer.
