Internet connection dropping when use VPN

We've had Verizon for several years, with no issue. However, recently, I've had to reboot our Verizon router several times a day because I keep losing my connection when I work from home using VPN. Anyone have any experience troubleshooting this issues?

Oh, and I've been on hold with technical assistance for about 45 minutes!!!

#1 What is the brand, model and hardware version of your router?

#2 Are you connected by wire or by wirelesss to this router?

Is another device on the network still working Internet-wise when the computer connected via the VPN drops?

As SMith6612 suggested to another VPN user try bypassing the VPN for a period of time to help isolate the issue.

Just curious, I am looking into using a VPN are you using a free one or one that has a fee, and could you please post the name of the  application?  Thanks

Same here.  Used it for years then around June or July I have had this internet VPN issue.  Our IT can't figure it out, only happens for those who have Verizon (we all have FIOS). It was around the time I upgraded our internet, but not sure if it was that exact same time.  All other users for the company have no problems, I can go to the coffee shop and have no problems.  I too talked with Verizon support for over an hour, they couldn't figure it out, so the final conclusion was "Sorry, we don't support this type of request";  then why did you try in the for a hour?  I am giving it one more month for Verizon to send out the fix, then all of us at the company, who have not already, have no option then to switch to Comcast.   Next time one knocks on the door... If anyone has come across the solution please post, I promise I will too.

Hi mapit,

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.

Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

One issue that does happen with VPN's is when Local Networks on both side use the same subnet.

For example by default the VZ Routers use:  192.168.1.x

If your corporate network uses 192.168.1.x as well your VPN may not work properly.

Adam,

Sorry, thought if a response was made it would email me, that's what I get for not reading the first post about checking frequently.  Been a while before I check back, lesson learned.  I did chat with Denise, they are being a big help trying to figure out what is going on.

Thanks

Thanks Jim,

This was actually something I had previous knowledge of and the first think I tried was changing my ip address so it was no where near the VPNs.  Was not the issue.
