is the Actiontec Mi424 router dual band?
im having trouble with my printer, software reports pc is on a band and printer is on another. how do i find out which is which?

What do you mean by band?
Are you refering to SSID?
424 onloy supports 2.4G Wifi.
Try turning your router off and see if PC or printer loses its network connection.
Depending on how close you nearest neighbor is, one might be logging into another router.

Are you meaning the printer is on an IP ADDRESS not the operating channels?
the printer I am assuming is AirPrint (wireless) connected on your home network.
your router assigns an IP address (192.168.x.1 etc) your wifi channel can be 2.4 or 5.0 ghz. In which case it will change its IP address unless you dedicate an ip to each device. Your owners manual can tell you how to do this.
