Lag Spikes Since Upgrading speed

Since upgrading my internet from 25/25 to 50/50, I've been experiencing lag spikes, especially when I play games such as League of Legends. My problems are similar to the problem experienced by the one who made a post earlier this year.


I have run tracerouts and it seems the latency spikes start at hop 2 (after my router) and can extend to the destination servers. Most of the lag is on hop 2 and 3 (Verizon), and the destination servers. I've called verizon a few times, most of which the people on the other end claim I have too many devices on my network and this is causing speed issues, and thus I need to upgrade my speed to fix the problem. However, I get the problem even if I disconnect all but my main computer. In addition, I did not have these problems while I had verizon on a slower speed for over 2 years. One of the people on the phone restarted my router remotely (even though I can do that in person), and another restarted the nearest "hub" or something. This did not help my issue. 


They sent a technician out, whom just said there was nothing wrong with my router and he couldnt find any problems with my network, and to call verizon when I was experiencing the problem again and tell them what game I was having issues with. When I did call verizon, when I was having the problem later that day, the guy insisted I upgrade my fios speed to solve my problems. I know speed is not the issue. I'm wondering if the few others who had similar issues were able to have their problems resolved, but I can not "reply" on their posts.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and scroll down the page to an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name located above your post, or at the top right of this page.

Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, you may subscribe to the case. At the top right of your support case there is a gear icon which provides a drop down menu with support case options. Click that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.
