I have had my wireless network set up for about 3 months now with no problems. Yesterday, my computer that is wired to the router(Actiontech) was really slow. Speed test showed everything was running as it should eventhough it was still really slow. It is a little better today.
The problem now is that the computer that is wireless now has limited or no connectivity. I have tried all the normal steps to fix it (restarting both computer and modem). I also tried to release and renew the ip address but I got a message sayingthat it couldn't be done.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it but the MAC authentication reads :Disabled in my current wireless status on the computer that works.
I hpoe someone can help me out...I don't have and hour or two to sit with Tech support on the phone

Make sure the router is plugged directly into the wall and not into a surge protector...sometimes there is a power issue strangely. Try leaving it unplugged for about five minutes then turn it on and see if you can "see" your router. Sounds as if the router may need to be replaced though...are you getting a LAN port light on the router at the number that the computer is plugged into? (hope that makes sense) Sometimes the LAN ports on the routers go bad.

Router was plugged into surge protector and plugged into wall now. How do I "see" my router? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question....I don't really know what I'm doing!
There is one LAN light on....#1 , not sure if that is the computer that is working or the non working wireless one.
From what I have been reading and what you suggest, I was thinking that the router was bad too. How do I go about getting a new one from Verizon? I'm sure it is a lengthy process.

Normally "Limited or no connectivity" means your PC can "see" the router, and is trying to connect to it... but for some reason, can not... normally the wireless settings are not configured properly, or something of the like......
The default ESSID (wireless network name) and the default WEP key (wireless network password) are both printed on a sticker on the bottom of the router.
Reset the router with a paperclip or pen in the reset hole on the back of the router for 15 seconds and reboot the PC.... It is just a matter of finding the network that matches the ESSID in your wireless software, clicking connect, and when prompted for the key/password, type in the WEP key.
If all else fails, have tech support replace it if need be

I had a relative come over with his Windows XP HP laptop and had this same issue. I have a MAC lap and desktop and a Dell laptop wirelessly connected to the router (latest Actiotech) with no problem. His laptop was connected, I could "see it" registered on the router, and IP address was distributed but still could not access the web. At one point we were able to get a strong connection, but still no access to the web. We "repaired" his connection and tried all the relevant set up wizards with no success. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I saw one post that indicated the # of wireless users could be adjusted on the router; not sure how to do that and if that is the issue since an IP address was distributed. TIA.
If one wireelss device works on the network, then any should be able to... The router does not descriminate by default
Since your relative got an IP and such from the router, I put my money on a specified DNS address in the TCP/IP properties, or a proxy/VPN setting in the internet options.... OR maybe a funky firewall type thing..... either way, it is local to that laptop, since other devices work fine on the wireless network
