MI424WR Rev I Wired connection blocks other wireless connections

Message 1 of 11

I've an Ubuntu desktop wired to the MI424WR. Wired connection works fine. It's the wireless access, from other devices, that is the problem. Router shows all the wireless devices have ip addrs. However, if I go to a Windows pc, for example, no ip address and ping to 192.168.1.1 is unsuccessful.

Is the windows PC wireless?

What is its IP address?

Check the PC not the router.

Thanks for the curiosity.

I have a couple Windows machines, ipad, iphone, . . . none are able to connect to wireless net. Router's "My Network" page shows, in all,  8 wireless devices with ip addrs (ranging from 192.168.2.3 => .10) but, for example, Winows is unable to ping 192.168.1.1.

Ubuntu, wired connection is 192.168.1.2.

Reverting router to factory defaults did not solve.

Swapped the Ubuntu wired machine with a Windows l/t (ie.  Windows machine is now the wired OS)  and all devices are connecting.

Seems like Ubuntu wired is triggering something bad. Ubuntu rev is 16.10.

Is unbuntu machine running a dhcp server?

The fact that devices on wireless are getting a 192.168.2.x vs the standard 192.168.1.1.x means there is either a config error or some other device is running dhcp server.

Typo, sorry. Assigned addresses are in the 192.168.1 range. Fwiw, not running DHCP server on Ubuntu. Another crumb, with Ubuntu wireless, all connections seem ok.

Changing speed from 1000Mb/s 10 100Mb/s

sudo ethtool -s enp2s0 speed 100 autoneg off

met with limited success. At least one wireless machine can connect to net, albeit sluggishly. Putting the hobby away. Will post if a solution is found. Tx -

not to mention this wireless kbd is generating more typos/s than the previous wired one 🙂 Correction to -1:

"Changing speed from 1000Mb/s to 100Mb/s"

Maybe kdb is another crumb but I'm certain I can't type 1000Mb/s 🙂

Don't see problem

- running single-user or

- running from Ubuntu 16.10 ISO

gotta be something config'd when Ubuntu comes up init 5, but same services running on ISO as init 5 😞
