My Westell A90-9100EM15-10 router locks daily - HELP

Message 1 of 6
(9,965 Views)

Hi All,

In the past week, I had to reboot by Westell A90-9100EM15-10 router (Version:D) on a daily basis.  Can't connect whatsoever. . Here's my current network setup:

ONT----9100EM----NetgearGS108T Switch----DLink Dir825 (AP Mode)

9100EN:
- IP=192.168.1.1
- DHCP=On (range from 192.168.1.10 - 192.168.1.254)

Netgear GS108T:
- IP=192.168.1.2
- DHCP=Off

DLink DIR-825:
- Using as an Access Point
- IP=192.168.1.3
- DHCP=Off
- UPnP=Disabled

I have tried uplugging the router and switch one at a time and still have the issue. I am puzzled as to what can cause the router to hang. Any suggestions? Or, given the above layout, any recommendations as to the settings I should have?

Thanks

Thanks for the comment.  No I didn't get that.  I had to reboot the device to gain access.  After going to Monitoring and log... I see some entries in the log (see below).  Some of the message seems to be system related during reboot.  The others, i don't know.  A strange thing, I noticed, is that the date at the very beginning always show December 31... not sure why.

Ok.

#1 There is a defult user name and password to the router.

You did change the password, to prevent other people from getting into the router?

#2 In the router go to Advanced -> UPnP.

This feature is turned off, right?

I have already changed  the default admin passwords.

As with the UPnP, I left it at default.  That is needed.

The upnp system is not needed in most cases. Especially when you are running another router behind it (assuming your other devices are connected to your second router)

And the upnp is the cause of most of the lockup issues with both the actiontec and westell routers. If it stays on, you likly will continue to have issues. Your better off leaving the upnp system off and just using the verizon router like a modem and let your other devices take over the networking issues.
