I'm following these instructions: http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm
When I enter the DNS Server addresses (it's just the one: 192.168.1.1) for both Preferrred and Alternate DNS Server in TCP/IP Properties (de-select "Obtain DNS Server address automatically"), I lose internet access. Whe I used my Linksys router, I was given 2 DNS Addresses and entered them accordingly - everything worked OK, problems though with the ActionTec. Any ideas?

It's not the V2 model. This is the guide for the ActionTec and my security system: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Actiontec/MI-424-WR/QSee_QSD42208.htm

"If you log into the web interface of the router you can find fios external dns. I don't know it off hand and I am not home to say. But it should be easy to find. "
Got it! Thanks.
