You'll know the ONT battery needs to be replaced if the Verizon box is beeping. It usually takes about 5-8 years for this to happen. I'd recommend unplugging the battery and plugging it back in first though as this can be a good way to make sure the connection didn't fail and that the battery actually needs to be replaced.

Something to keep in mind is that battery only backs up phone service.
So if that is not a priority for you, then you don't have to replace it.

Ont will have fiber in. Ground wire outto ground. Power wire to bbu or power adapter. Ethernt port with go to router wan and devices will connect to lan ports from there. Coax from ont will typically go to a main cable splitter.
