I have 2 new computers both running windows 8 and on one PC I get the message limited connection and the other PC I get identifying no internet access. Any idea what's going on? I can use the internet if I connect with a wire but nothing going wireless. I have a few other computers running windows 7 and vista and have no issues at all. I have done every update I can think of...Oh and here's a kicker, went on vacation and brought those 2 computers with me, was connected with cablevision at hotel and had no issue at all connecting wirelessly.

It's not a windows 8 problem.  I have a win8 notebook and when it is in the same room as the router, my download speeds are  75+ Mbps.

If you haven't already, go into Network and Sharing center and check wireless properties.   Make sure the 802.x setting and secuity settings match your router.  And the obvious: make sure your wireless key is correct.

Thanks for the reply but we fixed it yesterday (fingers crossed it stays that way)

What we did was change the router settings to WPA2. Who would have thought that something so small as changing a setting on the router would fix it...but boy its nice to be able to use the computer again 🙂

Can you tell me more about this 802.x setting and what it does? Thanks.
