2-3 years ago Verizon adopted a policy of not providing refunds on partial months when you cancel your account if it is internet only. Was not able to get around this after 40 minutes on the phone and escalating to a "supervisor".
Verizon seems intent to keep selling mediocre service (lots of outages in my building including my unit and floor) with customer-unfriendly policies. This policy is transparently greedy and a terrible way to get repeat customers if and when they move back into a Fios location.
Note to leadership: don't be so shortsighted. This is how industry dinosaurs die.
