Optimum wifi connectivity and strength question

I have had WiFi since 01/01/2015, and have had this problem ever since then. Finally enough is enough, the wifi is so weak. And I do not live in a big house, its a 2 bedroom 1 floor decent size house. I notice when I am in my room, the connection is terrible (maybe 1 bar on the WIFI icon, 2 if I am lucky, sometimes nothing)

When I am using my cell phone, images, webpages, etc sometimes literally will not load. As soon as I turn off wifi it loads up. I never had this problem with optimum, Please help me figure this out, I am trying to avoud a phone call but this is a waste of a service i am paying for.

Thanks for your time and advice.

Have you used the search feature on this forum?  There are lots of threads about improving WiFi performance.  Here's one that has been saved for all to see:

Good Luck.
