PC to MAC Install

Hi, I"m getting a new Mac for Xmas and will need to load Verizon Fios Internet.  Is this easy to do, I assume I have to use the install disc used by them when they loaded my PC.  Do I need one specifically for MAC OS?  I would like to rid myself of Verizon Yahoo, at the same time, which I signed up to on the PC, can this be done.  I am trying to save myself time on the phone with them.  Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Karin

You do not need to install their software.

#1 The router that they provide will handle the connection.

#2 Or the router that you provide, will handle the connection.

For the second item, see as need be: http://www.verizonfioswiki.com/index.php/Using_Your_Own_Router

This is true, you do not need to load any type of software in order for your internet to work.  Either plug in the ethernet wire or if you are connecting wireless, type in the wep key provided by Verizon, which can be found on the side of the actiontech router.

Wow I didn't realize it would be that easy, but I guess getting rid of Verizon Yahoo is not, I read somewhere that it's not compatible with Mac, so will this give me problems?

Thanks

I am not sure. The only thing, that I could think of..

You have to configure your E-mail or News client manually. Use Google, and search for:

verizon email settings

The Verizon router will work just fine.  You can start reviewing your email as soon as you log on to verizon central. Or you can configure Imail at the same time. Remember when using Imail the outgoing and incoming servers should read outgoing.verizon and incoming.verizon, not outgoing.yahoo.verizon or incoming.yahoo.verizon and remember to check off the POP

box when asked.
