Paying for 25Mbps/25Mbps but only getting 25 Mbps/ 2 Mbps

I'm paying extra for 25Mbps Download and 25Mbps Upload, but I can only get 5Mbps Upload max ever.  What is keeping me from getting the 25 upload speed?    I've optimized my laptop (per Verizon advice).

Verizon Tech said not verizon's issue, it's my laptop(?).  Laptop is only 4 years old.  So I'm paying a premium for something I'm not getting.   What is limiting upload speed?  Thanks.

make sure you're testing at http://speedtest.verizon.net   don't bother testing at speedtest.net or speakeasy  - those sites were designed for cable company's who don't do 25 and 35 up speed so they don't handle and or give accurate reports.

If you're getting 5 up at the verizon site, let us know if you are connecting hardwire or wireless, and what operating system you have.

we have a lot of people that take full advantage of the upload speed, so you should be able to get up there too!

You might try running a speed test/connection analyser like

http://ndt.anl.gov/

And see what it tells you about where the bottleneck(s) is in the uplink connection. No guarantees that it will be useful, but it might provide much more information about what is going on.

As others have said, most users have little difficulty achieveing the upload speed they are paying for.

With the Verizon Online - FIOS Speed Test, my Upload speed is 2.061 Mbps.  Operating system is WinXP, and is hardwire not wireless.  I've had FIOS Internet since Nov 2007.

Are you connect wirelessly or wired?

Is there a difference when you run the speed test by each method?

and is hardwire not wireless

Call tech support or do an online chat. Have you tried resetting your router, or running the optimizer? Perhaps you could try the in home agent to assist.

if you are hardwired and getting 2 upload at verizon's speedtest site, then make sure that it says you're pc is optimized (it will tell you along with the results of your speedtes) and if not, then run the optimizer @ www.verizon.net/optimize

many users get the uploads after running the optimizer, also there have been reports of some antivirus's giving trouble with speed uploads and things of that nature (namely AVG) if you run the optimizer, and are hardwired and still getting that result at speedtest.verizon.net then call support and have them isolate the issue with you.   they may need to send you another router, or escelate it to their Tier II support.
