1.  Why is ScanningProcess such a memory Hog...Verzon's page says sympton Slowness is sign of a virus....The scanning process itself is slowing my computer  does taht mean it is a virus?  It's using fover 55,000 K Mem  that's too much.

2. Is there a way to uninstall Parental Contol?  (Not disable uninstall it) It's running in System tray and I don't want it threre.  I have no need for it.

Do you have ZoneAlarm 7 antivirus installed on your computer?

1.  Why is ScanningProcess such a memory Hog   Because it is a rescource intensive process... it is, afterall, scanning EVERYTHING... plus, if using the Verizon Internet Security Suite, it is a FULL suite, and not just one program.... and if you have a slower processor and a small amount of RAM... it will indeed "bog down" a slower machine, like that

  1. Double-click the Family Protection icon in your taskbar.
  2. Login to Family Protection using your Administrator credentials.
  3. Click Get Uninstall Code. Make a note of this code.

NOTE: The uninstall code will expire at midnight.

  4. Click Done.
  5. Close all programs and disconnect your computer from the internet (you can do this by turning off your DSL or Cable modem, or unplugging your network cable from the back of your computer).
  6. Click Start, ProgramsFamily Protection, and select Uninstall Family Protection. In Windows Vista, click the Windows button, select All Programs, select Family Protection, and select Uninstall Family Protection. If prompted, click Allow.
  7. Select Remove.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Type your Administrator credentials.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Type your Uninstall Code and click Next.
  12. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
  13. Click Finish.
