I am receiving two of every incoming message in my email in box. Why is this and can someone help me to turn it off.

Are you using an email client such as Outlook or Outlook Express? If so you may have your account set up twice. Click on Tools, then accounts to check.
If you are using the webmail at webmail.verizon.net then you may have your messages forwarded to yourself.
